I tore into a new one this afternoon, and now I'm working on the little details: cleaning off the exposed paper, touching it up with paint in some places, and making additional rips in others....

The surface looks confused and chaotic, and I'm not feeling the color combinations so much. It sucks to hit a wall, a stumbling block.

I'm going to have to sit for a long time and look at it. I have some ideas, but I need to sort it all out in my head.

Tore the yellow piece open tonight. Now I'm going to put down a new tarp...the old one has so many holes in it that it's no longer very effective at keeping stray paint off the floor....

Last night I discovered a technique whereby I can remove the residual paper from the surface of the canvas without damaging the layers of paint below.

Last night I discovered a technique whereby I can remove the residual paper from the surface of the canvas without damaging the layers of paint below.

This is a vast improvement over using oil to render the paper transparent, and the colors are far brighter than I've been able to get them in the past. I took the above photo this morning and you can see where the top and left side have been cleaned. I've spent the night working away at it and am dead tired. Currently, this web site is the work in progress. I'm also working on a couple of 20"x20" paintings, and once I get new sand paper for my sander I'll be ripping into them. Hopefully this will occur tomorrow....
